Areas of Specialization

Fiction Writing; History of the Short Novel; The Modern Novel; American Literature, 1865-present.

Christie Hodgen is the author of the novels Elegies for the Brokenhearted (W.W. Norton & Co., 2010) and Hello, I Must be Going (W.W. Norton & Co., 2006).  Her collection of short fiction, A Jeweler's Eye for Flaw, won the AWP Award in Fiction and was published by the University of Massachusetts Press in 2003.  Her books have been featured as Editors' Choice selections in The New York Times Book Review and Booklist, and in Barnes & Noble's Discover Great New Writers series.  Her fiction has appeared in a wide variety of literary journals and anthologies, including The Georgia Review, Ploughshares, and New Stories from the South.  Her awards include a grant from the National endowment for the Arts, two Pushcart Prizes, and a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in Literature.
